H.O.G. Chapter 4052!
Let's roll to honor those who served this great country!
Come out & ride in the City of Huntsville's Veterans Day Parade! This year's parade theme is "A LEGACY TO LOYALTY AND SERVICE." (Note: This ride is a closed Chapter ride...meaning only members and 1 guest per may participate with this H.O.G. Chapter ride).
2024 Information: (please read to familiarize yourself with expectations) NOTE: No later than November 8th, all members RSVP'd will receive a copy of the Parade Info/Safety Briefing slides (the info used by the Parade Marshall to inform on parade info)
Please plan to meet/stage @ the Shell Station (Greenbriar/I565 Exchange) @ 7:45am on Monday, November 11. KSU will occur at 8:15am.
What to expect: (Please check back frequently--daily 5-3 days prior to the parade and hourly the night before and on parade day for updates/changes)
1. We'll transport the flags we'll carry/display on the bikes while riding in the parade in a cage. These are 3'x5' flags. Please feel free (and you're highly encouraed) to mount other smaller flags or patriotic items on your bike as well--remember the parade theme mentioned above and have fun. Once at our parade line-up/staging location, we'll get the flags mounted/ready to be held on our bikes. Here are our flag bearers:
US & POW/MIA Flag: - George V. / Alabama Flag: Doyle B. / Army: Rich K. / Marines: Shawn B. / Navy: Steve G. / Air Force: Ben K. / Space Force: Chris E. / Coast Guard: Corey M. / H.O.G. Chapter Flag: Nate C. / Flag Transport Vehicle: Jennifer K.
If you need help with mounting a flag...please contact Shawn B. or Nate C. soon to arrange a mounting option.
2. There will inevitably be some downtime from our staging spot arrival to parade begin time. Bring a snack or two and plenty of water and/or cold weather/rain gear. Stay in tune with the weather so you remain safe and ride ready! Note: There are no food trucks, coffee or vending machine venues whatsoever--bring your own...you'll be waiting for a bit. There are portable toilets available.
3. We must ride with our helmets.
4. Let's make sure we roll in as one unit...we've been told there can be some serious chaos in the parade staging areas...we don't need to add to it by straggling in randomly. Please note our meet/stage times at the Shell Station above.
5. If you bring something in/around the parade staging area, pack it out (trash, etc.).
6. We must follow any/all Parade Marshal's requests...only exception, if a police officer overrides those instructions. Just an FYI.
7. We can't be throwing any candy to kids/the crowd. We can only HAND people candy...hard to do when rolling down the road...don't throw it. We're told this will warrant a quick end to your parade day and they really emphasized this as a major no-go! )-:
8. Plan to wear your H.O.G. Chapter vest/apparel. Note: Flag etiquette prohibits the wearing of the American flag as clothing.
9. The parade route is approximately 2.1 miles long. There will be slow-go riding, and some slight uphill/downhill moves. Please avoid big gaps--especially to the parade group to our front. Avoid any prolonged stops (unless for an emergency or driven by parade delay activities). Once the parade ends, plan to continue rolling towards exiting the area (so we don't bottleneck the parade end area). We'll stop somewhere soon after the parade ends to pull down/re-cage the flags for transport back to RHD.
10. Remember: Be Kind, Be Patriotic, and Have Fun...that's the rules. Also--the event is televised...be mindful of such as we represent our Chapter & Dealership.
Let's ride to support our Veterans! Thanks to those that have RSVP'd already to ride...awesome! If you haven't RSVP'd to ride...please do so...join in!!
